Community Involvement
At McKee Associates, we are very active in our community. We have partnered with The Design for A Difference Project, donating our design expertise, materials and fund raising. We built the Dane County Fire Chief’s “Fire Safety House”, and also support the Ronald McDonald House in Madison, the Oregon Athletic Booster Club and DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services). We care about issues that affect homeowners so we are consistently working with legislators to make sure regulations don’t add unnecessary cost to the construction of new homes.

STEP 1
Let's chat about your dream home wishlist.
Contact us and fill us in on your dream home wishlist so we can help you get started! We'll show you examples of previously built homes and those currently under construction to answer any and all questions about building and talk you through next steps. If you need to find a lot, we'll help you find one that's a perfect fit! We have several of our own in various neighborhoods in Middleton, Verona, and Fitchburg that we can reserve for you during the design stage as well.
Our Process
STEP 2
Design!
You'll work directly with Brian to draw up custom plans specifically for your lot, highlighting your favorite views and balancing your wants and needs within your ideal budget.
He'll make sure to value-engineer your plans as we go, making sure we use materials as efficiently as possible to both get you the most for your dollar and reduce waste.
This typically can take 2-4 weeks, meeting weekly to add more detail and tweak as needed! We take note of any extra design features and materials for accurate pricing, also taking note of any additional changes or features you may want to see priced out.
Once we all feel really good about your plans, we send them out for pricing with our preferred vendors and trades! This typically takes 2 weeks.
Our Process
STEP 3
Financing + Digging!
After what feels like a very long 2 weeks of waiting for your pricing to come back, we'll sit down to walk you through the pricing on your home, taking time to discuss any potential changes and planning for any areas that may be finished in the future. We revise and re-bid as necessary.
Once you're happy with pricing, we go over contracts and get financing rolling! We offer Turnkey Financing, but we'll discuss the best option for you and get you in touch with lenders if you need recommendations.
After financing is all set, we start digging! Once we start, building can take up to 6 months.

STEP 4
Selections + Walkthroughs
If you thought the design phase was exciting, this is where the fun really begins!
Our in-house designer, Kelly, will keep you on schedule, setting up appointments with our vendors to customize every aspect of your new home. She'll offer design guidance throughout, also finding creative ways to make your "dream home" Pinterest board come alive without stretching the budget.
You'll also meet with the trades and our craftsmen at checkpoints during the build to choose details such as plumbing locations, outlet locations, data connections, custom woodwork, etc.
Your home will quickly change in front of your very eyes, and you'll find yourself visiting every chance you can get to see the progress!

STEP 5
Congratulations, it's all yours!
As your guaranteed move-in date approaches, you'll set up a time for your final walkthrough with Brian and the team. He'll walk you through the home and how to properly care for it, setting you up for many years to come.
Your new home is covered “head to toe” for one year per our contract. Manufacturer and product warranties take over after that point. We go the extra mile, and do a one-year warranty walk-through with you at your home to make sure everything is looking great! We stand by our craftsmanship and encourage you to keep in touch even well beyond that first year!
